Hi! I’m Lisa, owner and founder of HootJolt Limited (formerly Slice Creative Limited).

A snap-shot of my professional past

I’ve been in the design industry for over 20 years, working for various agencies until I formed Slice Creative in 2008. I started building websites in 2006, way back when not many businesses had websites.

I did have a life before graphic and website design. I’ve worked for a number of large corporate organisations in London in marketing and IT roles. In New Zealand I had a career in the insurance industry for a number of years, and spent some time in the health industry and local government.

My plan had been to study marketing and communications. I decided to put that on hold and pursue a career in graphic design first, thinking I would get back to the degree later. One thing lead to another and I started building websites in between my graphic design work. I was enjoying both the design and website work so much that I decided to continue focusing on these areas as a career.

Some of my passions

I merged my long-standing love of photography, with my love of travel, and spent a number of years lugging rolls of film, a huge camera, and giant lenses around many countries, including most of Europe and for three months in Africa.

One of my life’s ‘wow moments’ was visiting a family of gorillas in Zaire; it was well worth the seven-hour trek and getting attacked by giant biting ants!

I have a passion for gardening and nature in general. I grew up on a large sheep and beef farm where our vegetable garden was the size of a small section, full of beautiful fresh vegetables.

I’ve had a deep love for horses since I was a toddler. I’m grateful to have three incredible horses in my life right now; Molly, Jilly and Pepper.

And of course, if you have horses you need land. My husband and I live on a small block of land nestled in the Kaimai ranges, between Katikati and Omokoroa, near Tauranga.
